French Toast
Instructions
- 1
In a large shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 2
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.
- 3
Working with one slice at a time, dip bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 5 seconds on each side. Let excess drip off.
- 4
Place the soaked bread onto the hot griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes on the first side until golden brown.
- 5
Flip the French toast and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the center is cooked through.
- 6
Transfer to a plate and keep warm in a 200°F (95°C) oven while you cook the remaining slices, adding more butter to the pan as needed.
- 7
Serve hot, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.
Chef's Note
"This foolproof French toast transforms simple ingredients into a luxurious breakfast that rivals any brunch spot. Using thick-cut brioche and a touch of cream in the custard creates perfectly golden slices with crispy edges and a custardy center every time."
