Savory Black Bean & Quinoa Burger Patties

Instructions

  1. 1

Drain and rinse the black beans, then mash about 3/4 of them in a large bowl, leaving some whole for texture.

  2. 2

Add the cooked quinoa, breadcrumbs, diced red onion, and minced garlic to the bowl.

  3. 3

Beat the egg and add it to the mixture along with smoked paprika, cumin, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined. The mixture should hold together when pressed.

  5. 5

If the mixture is too wet, add more breadcrumbs; if too dry, add a tablespoon of water.

  6. 6

Refrigerate the mixture for 15 minutes to help it firm up.

  7. 7

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

  8. 8

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  9. 9

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

  10. 10

Let patties rest for 2 minutes before serving on buns with your favorite toppings.

Chef's Note

"These hearty plant-based patties prove that veggie burgers can be just as satisfying as their meat counterparts. I love how the quinoa adds protein and texture while the smoky spices bring depth—serve on brioche buns with avocado and sriracha mayo for the ultimate experience."
